Shop Huron & Win A Discovery Flight!
In appreciation of the regional support of the South Dakota National Guard 153rd Engineer Battalion and in honor of their upcoming return, you could win a discovery flight!
If you shop in Huron between August 14 and September 24 and submit combined receipts of $25 or more, you will be entered to win a discovery flight in a civilian aircraft courtesy of Darin Rus, SFC, Recruiter with the SD National Guard 153rd Engineer Battalion. Duration of the flight is expected to be 30 to 45 minutes.
When asked how he came up with the idea, SFC Rus explained:
I had the thought when hearing about how the community, businesses and friends supported the deployed members in raising funds to bring them home for the Holidays last year. I was impressed by that support and now want to give something back to the community. I have a passion for flying and am able to do it sparingly so when I do, I like to bring someone along for their possible first plane ride. When I met some staff at the Chamber a few months ago, it kind of clicked to somehow bring the two entities together and get more people involved in shopping local while giving area residents a chance to win a discovery flight. It will help build some momentum in bringing the troops home once again while serving local businesses and getting families ready for the new school season that's around the corner. Hopefully it will spur on more shopping locally to support the businesses that have been in the area that have served the community for many reasons and seasons. I like to see it as coming full circle and having multiple entities benefit from the gift of giving.
