Martia Thelen has been a very active business woman in the Redfield Community. She has owned and operated several businesses over the past 35 years including the Thelen Funeral Home, Sears Store and the Coachman Supper Club. For the past 25 years, she has have owned and operated the Super 8 along with rental properties consisting of The Storage, a duplex rental, Main Street Plaza. Just within the past three years, she added a UHaul business running out of the Super 8. She also helped with a construction business and a small farming operation.
Martia has successfully served on several boards and served as President of the Redfield Chamber of Commerce and Fisher Grove Country Club. “While on the Redfield Chamber, I was very active with all the events that the Chamber sponsored,” Martia said. “One of my greatest accomplishments is getting the Fisher Grove Country Club out of debt and making a profit.”
She was the chairperson for Redfield’s 125th celebration and is currently serving on the Redfield School Foundation Board of Directors and the Redfield Ringneck Association.
During this time, Martia raised two boys who are very successful engineers. “I am very proud of my boys. I also enjoy gardening, going on walks, pheasant hunting and spending time with my family and friends,” she says. “I got my strong work ethic growing up on a farm in SD.”
